What would your top priorities be if elected?

My top priority is accountability to stop the fraud epidemic in our state. My second priority is to improve affordability for Minnesotans by reducing unfunded mandates and regulations particularly to county and local governments which are driving up property taxes. My third priority is to improve public safety. And my fourth priority is to improve children’s reading skills to give Minnesota children the needed tools to succeed as they grow up and become adults.

What qualifies you to hold this position?

There are a number of qualities and background experiences I possess that will help me serve as the Minnesota State Representative for Savage and NW Burnsville. First, I am a Certified Public Accountant, with an active license and former Audit Manager at KPMG, an international public accounting firm. This expertise and background will help me address the significant issue of fraud in state government programs. Second, I am a former Minnesota State Representative for portions of Savage and Burnsville serving on Taxes, Education Finance, Capital Investment and other committees. While previously serving I chief-authored four bills unanimously passed in the House and signed into law by the Governor, which demonstrates my ability to work with others to get good work done for Minnesota. Third, I have deep roots in the community; I am a longtime resident, graduate of Burnsville Senior High, and my husband, Chuck, and I raised our three children here.

What do you think is the primary role of government?

I believe the primary roles of Minnesota state government are to provide fair treatment to its citizens, safety in our communities, effective general educational opportunities for children, and well-maintained infrastructure.

How do you work to understand, and then learn from, opinions that differ from your own and people who disagree with you?

I have a strong track record of listening to constituents demonstrated during my past legislative service. I provided, and will provide again, office hour appointments and in-community listening sessions. Demonstrating my effectiveness as a legislator I received the “Elected Woman of Excellence” award from the non-partisan National Foundation of Women Legislators.
